Frequently asked questions

Do I need a permit for my project?

Almost always for new construction, and sometimes for larger remodels. New homes, garages, additions and ADUs require permits in most North Texas cities. The contractor you hire pulls permits as part of the job.

How long does a typical project take?

It depends on scope. A deck or bath might run 3 to 6 weeks. A kitchen or garage build runs 4 to 12 weeks. Additions take about 12 to 20 weeks, and custom homes or whole-home remodels typically run 4 to 12 months.

Which type of contractor do I actually need?

Smaller projects usually only need a small-crew contractor or specialty trade. Bigger projects need a general contractor who can run the whole job. Not sure which you need? Tell us about your project and we'll point you in the right direction.

Is this really free? What's the catch?

No catch. Contractors pay us a referral fee when they win the job, not you. You get three quotes and help comparing them at zero cost.

Am I obligated to hire one of the contractors?

No. You're free to compare the quotes and decide not to hire anyone.

Who do I sign the contract with?

You sign directly with the contractor you choose. They're responsible for the work, permits and any warranty they offer.

What should I ask each contractor before hiring?

Ask for references from recent jobs, a written scope with allowances, a schedule, and a payment plan tied to completed work. Check with your city on which permits your project needs.

How fast will I hear back?

Requests sent before 5pm get a response the same day. Later requests get a reply first thing the next morning.
